Guard runes are the way to go. Assuming full 6* guard on all doggies, and 2/4/6 def%, you only need ~26% (~192) 41% def in subs. This is across slots 2/4/5/6 in flat def, and slots 3/5 in def%.Pretty sure the free crystals are not enough to built and rune up all this stuff, especially farming tricaru runes takes alot effort. Unless you’ve got high quality runes to have high dmg on the three Icarus, the two transmogged Icarus should have good accuracy so they def break first during a team up and the regular Icaru (built with good dmg) comes in after the def break is applied.Fortunately, Rift Beasts are guranteed "successes" every time even if you die, and Determination runes are more valuable than Guard Runes for hitting Defense breakpoints for Tricaru.
